Derby
Well he came right into my life about two months after my bad fall off beau. His show name was A certain charm and boy did that suit him well. This horse brought more heartbreak then i have ever had. He was a GORG dark bay danish warmblood 17hh gelding. He literally was just so handsome. He was everything i ever dreamed of in a horse since i was a little girl. Along with looks, he had an absolutely amazing mind. I wasn’t the only one who fell madly in love with him, my dad did too. My dad actually looked into derby’s eyes and said “I have always wanted a horse like you.” He was going to ride derby too, and he did ride him haha. He was a bit pricey (25k) which was my dad’s maximum. My dad and i thought he was worth it. When our offer by the owners got accepted i was so extremely happy. Well then came the heartbreak, the vet check. He ended up have navicular in both his fronts, ring bone in both his fronts, bad bad thrush (which could of been easily treated but obviously his owners didn’t care enough), possible OCD and possible neurological. My dad said if they brought the price down to 10k we could buy him, even though he was prob worth much less. The owners would only go down to 23k and let us do a lease per month to pay it off. I was so upset, and to this day i still miss him. I hope someday i cross his path again. Right now he’s in florida with new owners.
